And Yahweh said to Abram, “Go out from your land and from your relatives, and from the house of your father, to the land that I will show you. And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great. And you will be a blessing. And I will bless those who bless you, and those who curse you I will curse. And all families of the earth will be blessed in you.”And Abram went out as Yahweh had told him, and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he went out from Haran. " Gen 12:1-4

The Bible begins a great pivot in this chapter. Previously, the concerns have been planet wide, and all of human-kinds doings, from the music of Jubal, the metallurgy of Tubal-Cain, the prowess of Nimrod, to the folly at Babel have all been faithfully recorded. We see the focus of the Spirit narrow now to recording the dealings of God with just one man and his family, and descendants. It is both amazing and encouraging to know that the Lord of the Universe stoops to interact with a single person, and his wishes and desires.

Not only that, we see the guarding and working out of His divine purpose through the bloodline of men. From Adam to Noah to Abraham to Israel. At Israel, we see it expand to become nationwide. Then we see the line from Israel to David to Christ. After Christ, the bloodline stops - no - rather it explodes! It brings about the fulfillment of the promise to bless all the families of the earth, and expands to become planet-wide again in the church, because we are now the sons and daughters of God!

In the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, we read ".. After these things I looked, and behold, a great crowd that no one was able to number, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes and with palm branches in their hands. And they were crying out with a loud voice, saying,“Salvation to our Godwho is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Rev 7:9-10) - Here is the fulfilment of the promise made so many thousands of years ago!

God is able to bring about His purposes by working through a small line of men, that He sovereignly creates and chooses.

It is a blessing for me to know personally that He created me, all my days were written in His book when there was as yet none of them, my tears are stored up in His bottle, and His love for me, and presence with me is for all eternity.

As it is written, "I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 8:11
