sudiptaMy name is Sudipta - after many years of looking for the 'perfect' church - I finally realized it did not exist.

It is in the the nature of organized bodies, that at some point in time, the organization becomes an end unto itself, and the spiral downward begins! The early Christian church was most productive when it was small and utterly dependent on God for the anointing of the Spirit. It continued in the Apostles doctrine, in fellowship and breaking of bread, and prayer, in each others homes. The moment it was institutionalized was when the rot started to set in....  I have come to the realization that organized scale may enable you to do large works - soup kitchens, food drives, clothing drives etc. - but it is not very helpful when it comes to growing one as a Christian - in the understanding of Gods word, in the doctrines of the faith, in the spiritual disciplines and in spiritual power.

By contrast, the intimacy of a home church strips away all hypocrisy and pretence very quickly! You can hide in the pews of a mega-church for years, but hosting a bible study for 3 weeks in your home will bring you into close contact with other christians in a way that will challenge you to the core! Yet, it is here, gathered around the Word of God, in the presence of His Spirit, talking and learning about the beauty of the LORD and His ways, plans, and thoughts - that true fellowship develops. It is in this interactive, and grounded atmosphere - talking about real issues, dealing with real problems, working with real people (warts and all!) that one can grow in practical faith.

So why aren't there more home churches?

Simply put, here are the reasons:

  • We have outsourced the responsibility of our spiritual education to professionally trained 'pastors'. There is a perception that we are either incapable of discovering God's truth for ourselves, or there is a lack of willingness to invest the time required to do it.
  • We are used to the current system - it is low investment of time for us, and works perfectly to assuage our consciences.
  • Most Christians are actually Christians in name only - there is no indwelling of the Spirit that creates the hunger for God and more of his Word (I realise that stings - but its true)
  • We don't know what we don't know - if we did - we would have a very different outlook.

This site is an attempt to "get the word out there" - and to enlist the help of other on-fire believers that are looking to make a difference in the world, but don't know how.

I have no credentials to speak of that qualify me in anyway to do this! All I know is that, when I went looking for God in His Word - I found Him - and He is beautiful!  He led me to the giants in the faith that have left their legacy in books, writings, podcasts, sermons, commentaries. All the information we need is out there! The Bible is out there, but it needs to be taught!

My intent in creating this site is to communicate the great truths of the Bible in a form anyone can understand, so that they in turn can teach others. To help home churches with doctrine, with discovering spiritual gifts, to helping them realize their inheritance as sons of the Most High. To become the salt of the earth, and a witness of Christ's resurrection to the world. Isn't that what being a christian is all about?
