What is the Tabernacle? 

Its a couple of things...

1. It is a name for this web site - which is designed to be a resource for ..

2. a Local Tabernacle - small groups everywhere that meet in each others homes, and that share the ideas and principles (The Tabernacle distinctives) that are expressed on this site.

3. You! The Holy Spirit indwells (tabernacles with) all those He has birthed

The core idea of the Tabernacle is to encourage believers to grow in the Spirit and Power of God by discovering and using their gifting in a small home-based group scenario. Learning to crawl, walk, and then run as mature Christians. Why a small home group? Because we feel that the modern church movement in many places has degenerated into little more than feel-good Christian entertainment on a Sunday morning. 

The Tabernacle movement is an attempt to go back to the way Christianity was practiced by the early church, some 2000 years ago!

We believe that there are believers all over the world that are frustrated (as we are) by the state of affairs in their immediate area, but don't know what to do about it! They don't have the resources to start yet another church, but feel that they must do something or they will burst!!

Here's the good news! A small home based church is a fantastic way to grow in the Lord, through the power of the Spirit! Let the Lord then decide how he wants to use your witness - He will make a way! 

Talk about the ideas on this site with others who share your passion. If you agree with them then do the following:

a. Start meeting once a week in your homes on a rotating basis.

b. Pick a book of the Bible and start studying it chapter by chapter, verse by verse. (We recommend starting with the Gospels and really paying attention to the teachings of Jesus! - Resources on this site and others that we link to will help you!) ; Start each meeting by asking the Spirit to help you understand. He will!

c. Once you have built up a cadence, it is time to start to discover your spiritual gifts. Resources here will help you as well! 

d. Start using them!

e. Let us know how you are doing... email us, or comment on our FB page, tweet a testimony. Promote this message to others, and help them start their own Tabernacles too!!
